Empowered to Feel Safe: A Personal Safety Workshop for Women at Orot Israel College

Recently, Orot Israel College of Education, Elkana Campus, had the privilege of hosting Michal Eliraz Goldstein for a powerful and inspiring personal safety workshop for women. The session was designed to give our students a meaningful pause from their academic routine—an opportunity to focus on inner resilience, self-confidence, and personal security. Michal created a welcoming and accessible atmosphere, reminding us that empowerment can begin anywhere—even from home, in comfortable clothes, with a cup of coffee.

During the interactive Zoom session, participants were guided through practical tools for navigating everyday situations, such as feelings of fear while walking alone or the challenge of setting clear boundaries with people both close to us and unfamiliar. Michal emphasized that personal safety is attainable for every woman, regardless of physical fitness or prior experience, and introduced basic principles of physical self-defense that can be applied when needed.

Beyond the personal dimension, the workshop also addressed important educational perspectives. As future educators, the students gained valuable tools they can pass on to children and students in their care—helping foster a greater sense of safety, confidence, and protection in the next generation.

The evening concluded with a strong sense of empowerment and practical readiness. We extend our sincere thanks to all the students who participated with openness and engagement. It was truly inspiring to witness women strengthening one another and leaving with skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
